why go solar?

Aside from being a green energy source going solar has many advantages.

Save on your monthly energy bill

When your home starts generating its own solar power, you significantly reduce your monthly energy bill. You can easily see savings of 50% up to 80% on your monthly bills. But the benefits don’t stop there. You also get protection for future rising utility rates. So while the market might fluctuate into higher prices, solar helps insulate you from paying more all the time for your home’s energy.

Ecological Positive ImpactSave on your monthly energy bill

While generating solar power to run your home saves you money, it also has the added advantage of having a positive ecological impact. Every kilowatt-hour your home produces is one less kilowatt-hour that has to be generated by using fossil fuels. The average solar home in the US can help offset 216 tones of carbon emissions over 30 years. That is the equivalent of not driving a car 480,000 miles (16 years at 30,000 per year) or planting 5,000 trees. Your home will be helping in reducing pollution, preserving natural ecosystems, and fighting climate change.

Time-limited 26% Tax Credit

The federal residential solar energy credit is a tax credit that can be claimed on federal income taxes for a percentage of the cost of solar photovoltaic (PV) components and installation.
The system must be positioned in service during the tax year and generate electricity for a home located in the United States. However, there is no bright-line test from the IRS on what constitutes “placed in service,” but the IRS has equated it with the completed installation.

In December 2020, Congress passed an extension of the ITC, which provides a 26% tax credit for systems installed in 2020-2022 and 22% for systems installed in 2023. (Systems installed before December 31, 2019, were eligible for a 30% tax credit.) The tax credit expires starting in 2024 unless Congress renews it.
There is no maximum amount that you can claim.
